SEATTLE (MAJ: 50-36; 2nd AL West): The Mariners beat the Tigers 3-2. Felix Hernandez (WI ’03) allowed two runs on ten hits over 6-1/3 innings for the win. JJ Putz (WI ’00) pitched a scoreless ninth for his 25th save. But, it was an odd play that put the M's in front.
TACOMA (AAA: 41-51; 3rd Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers beat Fresno 2-1. Adam Jones (WI ’04) homered for Tacoma. Mark Lowe (WI ’05) pitched a scoreless inning and struck out two in another rehab start. Justin Leone (WI ’00) homered for Fresno’s only run. The Rainiers needed to get out of a major jam in the top of the ninth to preserve the win.
WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 39-53 overall; 8-14 second half; 5th second half Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx lost 8-4 to Carolina. Matt Tuiasosopo (WI ’05) had a pair of RBI for West Tennessee. But, Doug Fister struggled for the Diamond Jaxx.
HIGH DESERT (High-A: 37-54 overall; 6-15 second half; 5th second half California League South Division): The Mavericks lost 4-0 at Bakersfield. Chris Tillman (WI ’07) pitched 5-1/3 scoreless innings for High Desert and got a no decision. Former Clinton LumberKing Ace Walker pitched the complete game shutout for the Blaze.
EVERETT (Short Season-A: 11-12; 4th Northwest League West Division): The AquaSox beat Eugene 5-4. Everett scored two runs in the top of the ninth to rally from a 4-3 deficit. Edilio Colina's two-out double drove in both ninth inning runs fpr the Sox. Colina also homered and drove in a total of four runs in the game.
AZL Mariners (Rookie: 13-4; 1st Arizona League): The AZL M’s lost 11-2 to the Padres.
