St. Louis agreed to terms with RHP Ryan Franklin ('94) on a two-year contract extension

Franklin's career has been resurrected this season with the Cardinals. He has been a key component to the Redbirds bullpen, with a dominating 1.23 ERA through 44 innings pitched. He was rewarded with a contract extension.

Then, it turns into an injury report:

Boston placed RHP Joel Pineiro ('98) on the 15-day DL, retroactive to June 28

New York Mets placed RHP Jorge Sosa ('01) on the 15-day DL

San Diego placed OF Terrmel Sledge ('00) on the 15-day DL, retroactive to June 28

Oakland transferred OF Chris Snelling ('00) from the 15- to the 60-day DL

Everybody's getting injured. If you have a former Timber Rattler at home, please be very careful with them. Apparently the oft-injured Australian Snelling will be out a little longer than originally expected.

Philadelphia sent RHP Tom Gordon ('88) on rehabilitation assignment: (high Class A Clearwater)

San Diego sent LHP Shawn Estes ('93,'94,'95) on rehabilitation assignment: (Rookie-level AZL Padres)

While the former Rattlers are getting injured, the ex-Foxes are getting healthier. Estes finally gets to make his 2007 debut after missing the entire 1st half of the season and most of 2006 recovering from arm surgery.
