April 9 in the MWL

Complete scoreboard HERE.

Cedar Rapids spoiled the home opener for the SWING. Quad Cities had ten hits, but only one run. The Kernels were happy with their first win of the year.

Kane County also had their Opening Day spoiled. The Snappers did the honors with a 5-4 win.

Fort Wayne handed the Great Lakes Loooooooooooooons bitter defeat for the first time this season. A 1-0 Wizard win was Almost Perfect. Four Fort Wayne pitchers combined to keep Great Lakes batters off base through 8-1/3 innings. A one out single by Scott Van Slyke ended the dream of perfection. But, the Wizards will take it after not playing any of their games in Lansing last week to open the season.

Speaking of Lansing...They started their season with an 8-3 win over the defending champions in West Michigan's home opener at Fifth Third Ballpark. Speaking of starting, I notice that Lugnut play-by-play guy Brad Tillery has started a broadcaster blog over there. Welcome to the whirlwind, Brad. Quick tip...Vanilla Ice refs in headlines...No.

Break up the Dragons! They are 3-0 after a 9-2 victory at South Bend.

The Chiefs (and this Sandberg guy they have for a manager) are 2-0 after a 2-1 win at Burlington.

The Rattlers.....deserve a different post.
