The '82 Brewers moved to 2-1 on the season with a 14-5 win over the Blue Jays at Exhibition Stadium on April 11.
For the second time in three games, the Brewer offense knocked the opposing starter out of the game in the first inning. Jim Clancy was knocked around for seven runs on six hits in just 2/3 of an inning. Ben Oglivie continued his hot start to the season by knockin two of the runs. Plus, the Blue Jays helped out with a couple of errors in the inning.
However, starting pitcher Moose Haas did not get the win. The Jays crept to within 7-3 and had runners on base in the bottom of the fifth. So, Bob McClure came into the game. McClure allowed an inherited runner to score, but got out of the inning with a 7-4 lead.
The Crew scored a run in the sixth, three more in the seventh -- Cecil Cooper's two-run single capped that rally, one in the eighth, and two in the ninth to pull away.
Charlie Moore and Cooper both had four hits in the game. Oglivie drove in four runs. Ned Yost had two hits, scored twice, and drove in two runs.
April 12, 1982 was an off day for the Brewers and their next action is April 13 at Cleveland.
