Mariners: April 7, 1997

The Mariners started a series against the Cleveland Indians at the Kingdome on this date in 1997.

The pitching matchup was Scott Sanders for Seattle against Charles Nagy.

The Tribe snapped a scoreless game with four runs in the top of the second inning. Manny Ramierez had a solo homer and Sandy Alomar hit a three-run homer.

Seattle fell behind 5-0 after another Cleveland run in the top of the sixth, but got a run in the bottom of the seventh. That M's run scored when Alex Rodriguez drew a bases loaded walk with two outs. But, Paul Assenmacher relived Nagy and got Ken Griffey to end the threat.

Cleveland put the game away with three runs in the top of the eighth off Solomon Torres. Two were driven in on a double by Ramirez.

Eric Plunk gave up an Edgar Martinez home run in the eighth and an RBI single to Joey Cora in the ninth, but that was it for the M's. The loss was their fourth in five games.
