Rattlers' Butler finally serves up start
Butler, who hadn't been able to get into the regular rotation due to the wave of weather-related postponements and cancellations, generally was on target throughout his 83-pitch start, consistently reaching the high 80s to low 90s on his fastball and displaying a steady glove.
His defensive highlight came in the fourth when he scooped up a dribbler near the mound from his knees and zipped a rocket to first to end the inning.
"He threw his fastball to both sides of the plate extremely well and had a pretty decent breaking ball tonight," manager Jim Horner said. "But the biggest thing that I was impressed with was how he fielded his position. He showed me a little athleticism right there."
