Mariner System Report (Games of 7/1)

SEATTLE (MAJ: 45-33; 2nd AL West): The Mariners beat Toronto 2-1. Jose Guillen homered to tie the game in the eighth and singled in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth. JJ Putz (WI ’00) pitched a scoreless top of the ninth for the win. But, that wasn't the big news in Seattle's eighth straight win.

Tacoma (AAA: 36-48; 4th Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers beat Salt Lake 10-0. Adam Jones (WI ’04) had two hits, including a home run, and three RBI for Tacoma. The Rainiers got off to a pretty fast start in the game.

WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 34-49 overall; 3-10 5th second half Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx were rained out on Sunday.

HIGH DESERT (High-A: 34-47 overall; 3-8 5th second half California League South Division): The Mavericks lost 4-3 to Inland Empire. The 66ers scored twice with two out in the bottom of the ninth off Roman Martinez (WI ’06) to beat High Desert. Maverick starter Chris Tillman (WI ’07) pitched seven innings and allowed one run on three hits, but got a no decision. Travis Scott (WI ’06) homered for the Mavs.

EVERETT (Short Season-A: 8-5, 3rd Northwest League West Division): The AquaSox lost 9-3 to Eugene. Rob Harmon (WI ’07) walked eight and allowed six runs over 3-1/3 innings to be charged with the loss.

AZL Mariners (Rookie: 7-1; 1st Arizona League): The AZL M’s were off on Sunday.
