Mariner System Report (Games of 7/5)

SEATTLE (MAJ: 46-36; 2nd AL West): The Mariners lost 3-2 at Oakland. Miguel Batista allowed three runs -- two on solo homers -- on six hits over 7-2/3 innings to take the loss. Jose Guillen had three hits and an RBI for Seattle.

TACOMA (AAA: 37-51; 4th Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers beat Portland 6-1. Sebastian Boucher (WI ’05) went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBI for Tacoma.

WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 37-51 overall; 6-12 5th second half Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx won 6-1 at Birmingham. Marshall Hubbard (WI ’05) had a pair of RBI. Justin Thomas (WI ’06) gave up one run over six innings for the win. Chad Fillinger (WI ’05) worked the final three innings for the save.

HIGH DESERT (High-A: 36-49 overall; 5-10 T-4th second half California League South Division): The Mavericks lost 10-3 to Rancho Cucamonga. Michael Saunders (WI ’06) had a pair of hits, including a home run for High Desert. Carlos Triunfel (WI ’07) made his Maverick debut and went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

EVERETT (Short Season-A: 9-8 4th Northwest League West Division): The AquaSox lost 8-7 at Boise. Kalian Sams (WI ’07) went 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI for Everett. The game was tied 7-7 after the Sox scored four runs in the top of the fifth. The Hawks won the game with a two-out home run in the bottom of the ninth inning.

AZL Mariners (Rookie: 9-3; 2nd Arizona League): The AZL M’s lost 13-6 to the Padres. Renee Cortez (WI ’03) allowed an unearned run in one inning of work in a rehab start and too the loss.
