SEATTLE (MAJ: 38-58 4th American League West): The Mariners beat Cleveland 8-2. Raul Ibanez (Foxes, ’94) hit a grand slam for the M’s. Felix Hernandez struck out eight and allowed two runs on four hits over six innings for the win.
TACOMA (AAA: 48-51, 3rd Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers lost 10-8 to Tucson in 13 innings. JJ Putz (’00) made the start for the Rainiers and pitched 1-2/3 scoreless and hitless innings. Wladimir Balentien (’04) had three hits, including a homer, and drove in two runs for Tacoma, but the Rainiers couldn't hold on to a lead.
WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 51-47, 10-18 5th Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx beat Jacksonville 4-2. Johan Limonta (’06) drove in a pair of runs for West Tennessee. Jason Mackintosh (’04) got the win with 2-1/3 scoreless innings in relief. Shawn Kelley (’08) got the last four outs for the save.
HIGH DESERT (High-A: 43-55, 11-17 second half 5th California League South Division): The Mavericks lost 7-0 at Rancho Cucamonga. High Desert had six hits in the game.
EVERETT (Short Season-A: 14-17, 2nd Northwest League Western Division): The AquaSox won 4-2 at Salem-Keizer. Kevin Reynolds (’08) had a pair of hits and an RBI for Everett and the Volcanoes had five hits total.
PULASKI (Rookie: 20-10, 1st Appalachian League East Division): The M’s lost 9-0 at Elizabethton.
PEORIA (Rookie: 8-14 8th Arizona League): The AZL M’s lost 11-10 to the Brewers.
