Tonight's Rattler Starting Pitcher (7/18)

RHP MICHAEL PINEDA was signed as a non-drafted free by the Mariners out of the Dominican Republic on December 12, 2005.

LAST START: Pineda allowed three runs on three hits over 6-2/3 innings at Fort Wayne on July 12. He walked three and struck out five. The Rattlers had a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh, but Pineda allowed a solo homer and a two-run double and the Wizards took a 3-2 lead. Wisconsin rallied to win 5-4 and Pineda picked up a no decision.

VS. SOUTH BEND: This is Pineda’s second appearance and first start against the Silver Hawks this season. On April 21, Pineda allowed one run on two hits over three innings at Coveleski Stadium. He did not walk a batter and struck out three in that game.

THE START OF 2008: Pineda won his first two appearances for the Rattlers. He picked up a win in relief in the first game of a doubleheader at Quad Cities on April 5 and another win with two innings of scoreless relief against Fort Wayne on April 16.

THE STREAK: Pineda tossed 21-1/3 consecutive scoreless innings before giving up a third inning run in the start against Burlington on May 14.
