Mariner System Report (Games of 7/2)

SEATTLE (MAJ: 45-34; 2nd AL West): The Mariners lost 3-2 in eleven innings at Kansas City. Felix Hernandez (WI ’03) allowed two runs on five hits over eight innings for a no decision as the Seattle winning streak came to an end.

Tacoma (AAA: 36-49; 4th Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers lost 8-3 to Salt Lake. Wladimir Balentien (WI ’04) hit his 20th homer of the season, a solo shot, for Tacoma.

WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 36-49 overall; 5-10 T-4th second half Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx swept a double header from Huntsville. They won the first game 10-9 in nine innings. West Tennessee won game two 7-6 in seven innings. Chris Minaker (WI ’06) drove in the winning run in both games. A ninth inning single did the job in game one. In game two, Minaker’s one out single in the bottom of the seventh knocked in the winning run.

HIGH DESERT (High-A: 34-48 overall; 3-9 5th second half California League South Division): The Mavericks lost 7-4 at Inland Empire. Michael Saunders (WI ’06) had three RBI for High Desert in a game that was marred by a pair of bench clearing incidents.

EVERETT (Short Season-A: 9-5, T-2nd Northwest League West Division): The AquaSox beat Boise 11-3. Greg Halman (WI ’07) drove in three runs for Everett.

AZL Mariners (Rookie: 8-1; 1st Arizona League): The AZL M’s beat the Cubs 6-2. Carlos Triunfel (WI ’07) had two hits, an RBI, and a run scored for the M’s.
