GM 2: Ricky Orta vs. David Herndon

WE DIDN’T NEED THE RAIN: The rainout last night was the ninth of the season at Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium. That matches the nine rainouts from the 2003 season. Sunday is the eighth doubleheader of the season for the Rattlers. Wisconsin swept a doubleheader from the Cedar Rapids Kernels on July 4.

YOU LOOK FAMILIAR: The scheduled game one starter for the Rattlers in Cha Seung Baek. Baek, who is on a major league rehab assignment for Seattle, pitched for the Rattlers in 2000 and went 8-5 with a 3.95ERA. During that season, Baek was 4-1 with a 3.86ERA at home.

YOU ARE FAMILIAR: Rattler manager Jim Horner was a teammate of Baek in 2003 on the San Antonio Missions, Seattle’s Double-A affiliate in the Texas League.


CEDAR RAPIDS STARTERS: David Herndon was the 5th round pick of the Angels in the 2006 draft out of Gulf Coast Community College in Florida. He has won his last two starts. In his last start, Herndon allowed two runs on five hits over five innings for a win over Great Lakes on August 12 at Cedar Rapids. Herndon is 1-1 in two starts against the Rattlers. He has allowed 12 runs (9 earned) on 16 hits over 10-2/3 innings versus Wisconsin in 2007.

Trevor Bell was the 37th overall pick in the 2005 draft. The Angles selected him out of Crescenta Valley (CA) High School. In his last start, Bell pitched seven innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits, but got a no decision against the Great Lakes Loons on August 13. Bell has made three starts against Wisconsin this season and is 1-1 with a 5.40ERA. He has allowed 11 runs (10 earned) on 21 hits with 18 strikeouts over 16-2/3 innings versus the Rattlers in 2007.
