Previewing the next two teams on the home stand

Clinton LumberKings (Texas Rangers)

WHO'S HOT: SS Jose Vallejo is batting .361 (13-for-36) with five RBIs and two runs scored over his last 10 games. C Chad Tracy is hitting .351 (13-for-37) over his last 10 games with five RBIs.

WHO'S NOT: RHP and newcomer Craig Crow (0-0, 16.20 ERA) had a rough outing in a 15-4 thrashing by West Michigan Aug. 8, allowing nine runs on eight hits and three walks in just 2 2/3 innings.

STREAK HALTED: The LumberKings' season-high seven-game losing streak ended Saturday with a 5-2 win over South Bend.

ROSTER MOVE: LHP Michael Kirkman joined the team from Class A Short-Season Spokane. He fills the void left when LHP Broc Coffman was placed on the disabled list with an elbow injury on Aug. 6.

Cedar Rapids Kernels (Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim)

WHO'S HOT: RHP Trevor Bell (5-4, 4.79 ERA) scattered seven hits over eight scoreless innings while striking out six in a 2-0 win over South Bend on Aug. 8. At one point, Bell retired 13 consecutive batters.

WHO'S NOT: C Brian Walker is batting .192 (5-for-26) with one RBI over his last nine games.

ROSTER MOVE: C Hank Conger was placed on the disabled list with a left hamstring strain on Aug. 7, marking his second time sidelined this season. He also was on the DL from June 22 to July 25 with a lower back strain. In 70 games, he is batting .295 with nine home runs and 39 RBIs. He was replaced on the roster by free agent C Cody Collet. ... IF Tadd Brewer was assigned to the Kernels from Rancho Cucamonga of the California League, while IF Josh Davies was given his unconditional release on Saturday.
