A LATE START: Friday’s game, which was scheduled for a 7:00pm start, did not begin until 8:11pm. There was threatening weather in the area that postponed the start of the game,
ONE BAD INNING: The Bees scored three times with two outs in the bottom of the third inning to take the early lead. A two-out, infield single by Jeff Bianchi drove in the first run of the game. Luis Castillo knocked in the final two runs of the inning with a single. Those were the only three runs allowed by Orta on the night.
SCATTERING: The Timber Rattlers collected six hits and drew two walks against Wood last night, but failed to score against him. Wood induced a pair of double play balls and stranded six runners on bases.
NEEDED A HIT: The Rattlers went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position against Wood. This season, the Rattlers are hitting .250 as a team with runners in scoring position in 2007. They are hitting .245 with runners in scoring position and two outs this season.
GET CLOSER; FALL BEHIND: The Rattlers got a run against Burlington reliever Henry Barrera in the top of the sixth. Gavin Dickey scored from second on a throwing error by Bianchi. The Bees went back up by three runs when Jesus Soto hit a solo homer in the bottom of the seventh.
LATE RALLY: Wisconsin staged an attempted comeback in the top of the ninth inning. Bonilla doubled to start the inning against Angelo Morales. Juan Beltran doubled with one out to drive in Bonilla. Juan Diaz singled to get Beltran to third. Ron Garth came up with a two-out RBI single to drive in Beltran and get Diaz to second with the tying run. But, Morales got the final out for the save.
HOW CLOSE? In the month of August, the Rattlers have a record of 12-11. Of the eleven losses this month, five have been by one run and two others have been by two runs.
