September 8, 2000

The date referred to in the subject line above was the date of the last start Cha Seung Baek had as a Timber Rattler.

It was Game one of the Midwest League Western Division Finals at Beloit's Pohlman Field. The Timber Rattlers had just finished off the Kane County Cougars in the third game of a best-of-three first round series. JJ Putz was the winning pitcher with six solid innings and Shawn McCorkle homered and had three RBI to lead the offense.

This would be Baek's first start since going three scoreless innings on the second-to-last-day of the regular season. The plan at the time was to taper the late season starts of the Rattler pitchers. It worked in Baek's case.
