Midwest League Action -- 8/24

Complete 8/24 MWL Scoreboard HERE.

@Burlington 4, Rattlers 3: [Blake] Wood hasn't allowed a run in 17 innings over his last three starts and the Bees are now 4-1 against Wisconsin this year.

@West Michigan 5, Dayton 4: "This was a great win, that's all I can tell you," Brookens said. "I just like the way the guys battled. And when you see them battle like they did and pull a game out, that gives the manager a great feeling of satisfaction.

@Lansing 4, Great Lakes 1: With runners at first and second, Jonathan Diaz laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners over. However Loons hurler Chris Malone threw the ball away, which allowed Sean Shoffit to score and make it a 1-0 game.

@Peoria 4, Beloit 2: "(I) wanted to do my job and go six or seven innings," [Robert] Hernandez said through Chiefs hitting coach Julio Garcia as translator. "That was my mind-set from the get-go."

@Kane County 5, Clinton 0: Jason Fernandez and Nick Walters combined on a four-hitter as Kane County blanked visiting Clinton, 5-0, on Friday.

Cedar Rapids 9, @Quad Cities 0: Footsteps from surging Cedar Rapids weren’t the only thing the Swing of the Quad-Cities heard Friday night. The team also heard an earful of advice and reassurance from manager Keith Mitchell during a 15-minute, closed-door meeting that followed a 9-0 flop of a loss to the Kernels at John O’Donnell Stadium.

South Bend @ Fort Wayne (PPD): For the third time in six days, the Wizards had a game postponed by rain. Fort Wayne is trying to weather the storms, both literally and figuratively, as the season nears a close.
