Rattlers feel boost from Mariners' rehab

His cap sported the newer alternative logo.

And a few improvements along the way had Fox Cities Stadium looking a bit different, as well.

Other than that, it was 2000 all over again for Seattle Mariners pitcher Cha Seung Baek, who plopped down on a chair inside the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers clubhouse Friday afternoon and chuckled.

"Not really," Baek said when asked if it was strange to be back. "It's nice here."

Then he added with a smile: "Just for one game."
...
"I know that this is a very important thing for rehabilitation guys to come to various spots, and we're very happy Sean White and Cha Seung Baek came here," said Mariners special assistant to the general manager/player personnel and former Appleton Foxes manager John Boles. "It is their option. They could turn it down.

"We are very appreciative of being here and being affiliated with the Timber Rattlers, and we'd certainly love it to continue."

...

Boles hopes both will be ready to go by September call-ups since the Mariners entered Friday's action trailing Los Angeles by just three games in the American League West.

"We're in a race for the divisional title," said Boles, who also skippered the Florida Marlins for part of the 1996 season. "And of course, everybody is looking always to upgrade the team, whether from within or outside. And these are two guys who have shown themselves to be major league pitchers. They could help our big league team.

"The sooner they get back in sync, the better it's going to be for the Seattle Mariners."
