Mariner System Report (Games of 8/24)

SEATTLE (MAJ: 73-53; 2nd AL West): The Mariners beat Texas 4-2. Carlos Guillen homered and drove in a pair of runs. Felix Hernandez (’03) allowd two runs on three hits over six innings for his tenth win. JJ Putz (’00) pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his 37th save and to get Seattle to twenty games over .500.

TACOMA (AAA: 63-71; 3rd Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers beat Portland 5-2. Wladimir Balentien (’04) and Jeff Clement (’05) each drove in a run for Tacoma. Nick Green hit a key two-run homer for the Rainiers.

WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 57-73 overall; 26-34 second half; 5th second half Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx beat Chattanooga 5-2. Marshal Hubbard (’05) had a pair of RBI to pace the offense. Andy Baldwin pitched a complete game for the win.

HIGH DESERT (High-A: 52-79 overall; 21-40 second half; 5th second half California League South Division): The Mavericks lost 9-0 at Modesto. High Desert had three hits in the loss.

EVERETT (Short Season-A: 29-35; 4th Northwest League West Division): The AquaSox beat Spokane 1-0. Blake Ochoa (’07) had two hits and drove in the only run of the game. Doug Salinas and Nick Hill combined on a four hit shutout for Everett's fourth straight win.

AZL Mariners (Rookie: 34-18 overall; 14-10 second half 3rd Arizona League): The AZL M’s beat the Brewers 8-6.
