SEATTLE (MAJ: 66-52; 2nd AL West): The Mariners lost 6-1 to Minnesota. Raul Ibanez (Foxes, ’94) homered for the only Seattle run. A costly error by former UW-Oshkosh Titan Jarrod Washburn was key to the Minnesota win.
TACOMA (AAA: 56-68; 3rd Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers lost 6-3 at Fresno. Bryan LaHair (’04) homered and had a pair of RBI for the Tacoma. But, a position player -- Lance Niekro -- warming in the bullpen was the focus of this story.
WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 51-71 overall; 20-32 second half; 5th second half Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx beat Huntsville 7-3. Marshall Hubbard (’05) had three RBI for West Tennessee. Mike Wilson (’05) and Brent Johnson (’05) both had home runs for the Diamond Jaxx, but the return home ended with a loss.
HIGH DESERT (High-A: 49-74 overall; 18-35 second half; 5th second half California League South Division): The Mavericks lost 9-0 to Bakersfield. Johan Limonta (’06) had two of High Desert’s three hits.
EVERETT (Short Season-A: 23-33; 4th Northwest League West Division): The AquaSox lost 4-0 to Salem-Keizer. Jermaine Block had two of Everett’s four hits.
AZL Mariners (Rookie: 28-17 overall; 8-8 second half T-4th Arizona League): The AZL M’s were off on Wednesday.
