SEATTLE (MAJ: 71-53; 2nd AL West): The Mariners lost 8-4 at Minnesota. The Twins scored seven runs in the first inning off Miguel Batista and never looked back. Ryan Rowland-Smith (’03) pitched four scoreless innings and struck out six in relief for Seattle.
TACOMA (AAA: 61-71; 3rd Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers lost 9-6 to Portland. Bryan LaHair (’04) had two hits and two RBI for Tacoma. But, Portland blew open a close game late against the Rainier bullpen.
WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 55-73 overall; 24-34 second half; 5th second half Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx lost 8-0 at Chattanooga. Brent Johnson (’05) had two of the three hits for West Tennessee. Justin Thomas (’06) gave up four runs on three hits and five walks over 1-2/3 innings for the loss.
HIGH DESERT (High-A: 51-78 overall; 20-39 second half; 5th second half California League South Division): The Mavericks lost 17-3 to Inland Empire. Adam Moore (’06) knocked in two of the three runs for High Desert. Cibney Bello (’05) allowed eight runs on nine hits in five innings for the loss.
EVERETT (Short Season-A: 27-35; 4th Northwest League West Division): The AquaSox beat Spokane 5-1. Kalian Sams (’07) hit a two run homer for Everett.
AZL Mariners (Rookie: 32-18 overall; 12-10 second half 4th Arizona League): The AZL M’s beat the Angels 11-10.
