Midwest League Action -- 8/26

Complete 8/26 scoreboard HERE.

Rattlers 7, @Burlington 0: "You have to give [Butler] credit because he did a good job changing speeds and throwing strikes," [Bee manager Jim] Gabella said. "He's the kind of pitcher you can't pull. You have to go the other way against him. But we just never got rolling today on offense; we never got the baserunners on."

@Quad Cities 1, Cedar Rapids 0 (F/11): “We needed this one any way we could get it,” Daryl Jones said after scoring the only run in the pitchers duel. “Not just for the race, but to get some confidence back, we needed to come out of here with a win after losing the last couple of games.”

Dayton 9, @West Michigan 3: "Does it mean a lot? No," [Tom] Brookens said. "We'd like to be playing well and clicking on all cylinders down the stretch. But we've played tough all year. This wasn't that important, but having said that, you don't take anything for granted."

@Fort Wayne 5, South Bend 1: “I started out real bad this year, but lately I’ve been pitching well,” [Aaron] Breit said. “It helps me with my confidence pitching like this in front of the home crowd one more time.”

@Lansing 8, Great Lakes 7: The Lansing Lugnuts scored eight runs in the first four innings Sunday and held on to defeat the Great Lakes Loons 8-7 at Oldsmobile Park. Despite being outhit 17-8, the Lugnuts were able to strand 11 Loons baserunners, including leaving the tying run at second in the ninth inning.

Beloit 2, @Peoria 1: Joe Benson 2-for-4, run scored.

@Kane County 2, Clinton 0: “We’re just playing loose and having fun,” [Scott] Deal said. “Early on, it was like who’s going to make the error and make us lose. Now everyone’s just having fun and it’s a lot looser in the clubhouse.”
