Look who's coming to Fifth Third Ballpark

Just what the Whitecaps needed.
Magglio Ordoñez will appear in a one-game injury rehabilitation assignment with the Class A West Michigan Whitecaps on Monday, the Tigers announced today, as Ordoñez continues his recovery from a pulled oblique muscle.
That is from the Detroit Free Press. The Whitecaps press release is similarly understated.

Ordonez went on the disabled list on June 29 with a pulled oblique. The 34-year-old slugger is in his 12th season in the Majors and fourth season with the Tigers. Ordonez is the reigning American League batting champion with a .363 average with 28 home runs and 139 RBI in 2007 and is a six-time All-Star. This year, he was hitting .307 with 12 home runs and 50 RBI in 80 games at the time of the injury.

Gates will open Monday at 3:30 p.m. and fans are encouraged to arrive early.

The Whitecaps box office will remain open until 7:00 p.m. after tonight’s game and will open at 8:00 a.m. Monday morning for ticket sales.

Fans can also purchase tickets and print them at home from the Whitecaps website at www.whitecapsbaseball.com.
