The '97 M's lost their fourth game in a row on May 18. The Orioles beat them 8-7. Mike Mussina and Randy Johnson were the starters, but neither was involved in the decision.
Johnson struck out eight, but also walked eight in five innings. Mussina gave up six runs in five innings and also was touched for three home runs. Alex Rodriguez, Paul Sorrento, and Ken Griffey all went deep to help Seattle get a 7-5 lead heading into the late innings.
However, Baltimore got one run in the seventh. Then, a two-out, two-run single by Rafael Palmeiro put the O's in front 8-7.
The Mariners got back-to-back singles from A-Rod and Junior in the bottom of the ninth off Randall K. Myers. But, Armando Benitez got Edgar for the final out.

Seattle fell to 23-19 with the loss. They are now one game behind the first place Texas Rangers in the AL West.
Up next for the '97 M's is a trip to Anaheim for a series with the Angels.
