Mariners: May 20, 1997

Wild game for the '97 Mariners at Anaheim on May 20 wound up with the an 11-9 loss for the M's.

The Angels scored seven times in the bottom of the fourth to go up 7-2. Seattle forged back in front and had a 9-7 lead after four in the fourth and a three-run homer by Jay Buhner in the seventh.

But, the Mariner bullpen could not hold the lead. Gave up an RBI single in the seventh. Josais Mazanillo gave up a three-run double to Tim Salmon in the eighth and the Angels won.

Ken Griffey hit his 20th homer of the season in the first inning, but the M's lost for the fifth time in six games.

The '97 M's are 24-20 after this loss. They dropped to 1-1/2 games behind the Texas Rangers in the AL West.

The series in Anaheim continues on May 21.
