Getting caught up here
May 14, 1997: In a battle of the Jamies, Moyer beat Navarro and the M's beat the White Sox at the Kingdome 9-7. Junior hit his 17th home run of the season. Brent gates went 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBI.
May 15, 1997: Sox strike back. Chicago scores two runs in the top of the ninth for a 4-3 win at the Kingdome. The improbably named Chris Snopek doubled in two runs off Norm Charlton to drive in the tying and go ahead runs.
May 16, 1997: Baltimore flies away with a win. The Orioles beat former Oriole Dennis Martinez 6-3. Seattle got two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning off Randall K. Myers. Not enough.
May 17, 1997: Three losses in a row for the M's. Baltimore beat them 4-3. BJ Surhoff had three hits and two RBI for the O's. Once again, Seattle scored two runs off Randall K. Myers in the bottom of the ninth. Armando Benitez got the final out for the save. Jimmy Key went to 8-0 on the season with the win. Scott Sanders dropped to 0-5 with the loss.
This latest loss by the M's knocks their record to 23-18. They are .003 points behind the 22-17 Texas Rangers in the AL West. The series with the Orioles continues on May 18.
