The '82 Brewers welcomed the California Angels to County Stadium on May 18. Unlike later in 1982, the Angels won this game. They won 4-1 over Mike Caldwell behind the pitching of Steve Renko.
Two amazing things about this game: The Brewer defense turned five double plays and Marshall Edwards hit a home run for Milwaukee.
Renko pitched a complete game and allowed only three hits.
Bobby Grich hit a two run homer in the eighth inning to pad California's lead from 2-1 to 4-1. (Aside: No matter how many times I spell Bobby Grich's name, it still looks wrong)
Complete box score and play-by-play are HERE.
Now the '82 Brewers are 18-16. They trail Boston and Detroit by four games in the AL East.
The series with the Angels continues on May 19.
Scheduled starters 5/19/82:
CAL: Bruce Kison
MIL: Jim Slaton
