Game Notes -- 8/10

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The Rattlers fought back from an early 2-0 deficit to beat the Snappers 5-3. Ron Garth and Kuo Hui Lo both homered for the Rattlers. Three relievers combined to work six scoreless innings out of the bullpen for Wisconsin’s third straight victory.

GOING DEEP AGAIN: Garth has hit a home run in five straight games. He is the first Timber Rattler to hit a home run in five consecutive games. Garth also has hit a homer in seven of the last eight games.

FALLING BEHIND: Beloit grabbed a 2-0 lead two batters into the game. Joe Benson started the game with a double and Steve Singleton hit a homer off Kyle Parker. The next two Snapper hitters reached base on singles and Beloit would load the bases on a two out walk, but they did not score again in the first.

RAPID RESPONSE: Garth homered with one out in the bottom of the first. Alex Liddi walked and Lo doubled in the tying run with two outs. Joe White extended his hitting streak to eight games with an RBI single to give the Rattlers a 3-2 lead.

TIED AGAIN: Beloit got a run in the top of the third on an RBI single by Danny Santiesteban. They had runners at first and third with one out, but Parker got out of the inning with the score still 3-3.

TAKING OVER: Keith Renaud entered the game in the fourth inning to replace Parker. He pitched three scoreless frames and allowed one hit.

BACK IN FRONT: Liddi doubled Garth home from first base with a two-out drive to the base of the wall in right-center to give Wisconsin the lead.

IT’S BEEN A WHILE: Lo homered in the bottom of the fifth to put the Rattlers up 5-3. Lo’s last homer was on May 30 at Burlington. Lo has hit two of his three home runs against the Beloit Snappers. Also, this was Lo’s first homer at home this season

IT’S BEEN A WHLE (PT II): Cole Devries was the losing pitcher for the Snappers. He had not lost in ten starts dating back to June 4.

FIRST TIMER: Steve Richard pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his first professional save.

GUARANTEED: By winning the first three games of this series, the Rattlers have clinched a win in the series with the Snappers. This marks the first time Wisconsin has won a four game series at home in 2007.

OPPOSING STARTER: Tyler Robertson was the third round pick of the Twins in the 2007 draft out of Bella Vista (CA) High School. Robertson spent 2006 with the Gulf Coast League Twins and went 4-2 with a 4.25ERA in 11 games (10 starts). He was fourth in the GCL in strikeouts with 54 in 48.2IP. Robertson joined the Snappers in late May of 2007. In his last start, Robertson beat Dayton on August 5. He allowed three runs on eight hits over 5-2/3 innings with a walk and six strikeouts at Fifth Third Field. Robertson beat the Rattlers at Pohlman Field in his only appearance against Wisconsin this season. On July 20, he pitched seven shutout innings and gave up five hits while striking out ten. Robertson has won four straight starts and five consecutive decisions. He has not lost since June 26 at Cedar Rapids.
