Tuesday in the MWL

@Lansing 6, Wisconsin 2 -- Lansin was N*SYNCH (er, in synch) last night. The Rattlers get a paragraph in the PC today.

Fort Wayne 2, @Cedar Rapids 1 -- A late comeback wasn't enough for the Kernels yesterday.

@Dayton 5, West Michigan 2 -- Two homers and Zach Ward were enough for the Dragons.

@Southwest Michigan 6, Quad Cities 2 -- JT Hall hada great game, but a lousy sense of direction..."My dad, my mom and my uncle drove down from Mississippi, which was like a 15-hour drive," Hall said. If they drove down from Mississippi they would be at Tierra del Fuego in about 15 days looking for the ferry to Antartica.

Clinton 4, @Peoria 2 -- Peoria's winning streak comes to an end. Clinton catcher Ben Crabtree was philosophic about getting drilled in the eighth inning after a play earlier in the game when he made contact with Chief second baseman Robinson Chirinos. Here are the main points:

Clinton led 4-2 with no runners on and one out when Crabtree batted next in the eighth. Chiefs reliever Roger Evenson hit Crabtree in the back with a fastball and immediately was ejected by plate umpire Zach Bucher.

Davis [Peoria manager Jody Davis] received his second ejection of the season in the ensuing argument. He was upset there was no warning prior to the ejection.

"There should have been a warning after the first pitch (inside), before he hit him with the second pitch," Davis said. "We're going to take care of our own. I think he knew it was coming."

Chiefs teammates rushed to the dugout steps to greet Evenson on his way to the tunnel, and Crabtree trotted to first with no protest.

"I knew they were going to do it," Crabtree said. "It's no big deal. It's part of the game. They did it right. No complaints here."

Although Evenson faced just two batters and recorded one out, the Chiefs named him the player of the game.

"It's part of the game," Clinton manager Andy Fox said. "Those things happen. That's part of developing. You teach these guys how to play the right way.

"I thought Crabtree handled it well. I'm sure he had a feeling it was going to happen, and he went down to first."

@Burlington 5, Kane County 4 -- BEES WIN! They took three out of four from Kane County. The Cougars lead over the Chiefs is still one game.

@Beloit 9, South Bend 4 -- Snappers win their third straight.
