WELCOME TO THE MIDWEST LEAGUE: Malone, a 49th round pick of the Chicago Cubs in the 2006 draft out of Florida State, had a pinch hit double in the top of the ninth to help set up the rally. In the tenth, Malone drove in the winning runs with his second double of the game.

EARLY LEAD: The Rattlers got out to a 4-0 lead with a run in the first off Wade Miller and three runs in the bottom of the fifth.

A RARE BLAST: Michael Saunders hit a two run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning to put the Rattlers up 3-0. The home run was the first for the Rattlers since June 12 at Lansing. Wisconsin hadn’t homered at Fox Cities Stadium since June 5 against the Clinton LumberKings.

WELCOME BACK: Outfielder Alex Gary has rejoined the Rattlers from a rehab assignment for the Arizona League Mariners. Gary hit .214 with a homer and six RBI in fifteen games for the Rattlers before getting hurt. He had a pair of homers and drove in eight runs in four games for the AZL Mariners during his stay in the desert.

OPPOSING STARTING PITCHER: Jesus Yepez was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Cubs in 2002. Last season, he was 4-2 with an ERA of 3.92 in fourteen games (thirteen starts) for the Boise Hawks of the Northwest League. In his last start for Peoria, Yepez got the win over the Swing of the Quad Cities on June 23 at O’Brien Field. He gave up two runs on four hits in 7-1/3 innings walked three and struck out one.
