Mariner System Report (Games of 6/29)

Seattle (MAJ: 41-39; 2nd AL West): Seattle beat Arizona 3-2. The Mariners scored a pair of runs in the top of the ninth inning to rally for the win. Former Appleton Fox Raul Ibanez homered, his seventeenth of the season, to tie the game. Yuniesky Betancourt drove in the go ahead run with a single. JJ Putz (WI ’00) pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his fourteenth save. Gil Meche (WI ’98) pitched seven innings and gave up two runs (one earned) for a no decision.

Tacoma (AAA – 44-36; 2nd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma lost 8-5 at Las Vegas. The loss ended the Rainier winning streak at ten games. Rich Dorman (WI ’03) gave up seven runs on seven hits over two innings and got the loss. Adam Jones (WI ’04) scored a pair of runs for the Rainiers.

San Antonio (AA – 32-43; 5-2 second half 2nd Texas League South Division): San Antonio was off on Thursday.

Inland Empire (High-A – 44-32, 5-1 second half; 1st California League South Division): Inland Empire beat Rancho Cucamonga 14-5. Casey Craig (WI ’06), Brent Johnson (WI ’05), and Josh Womack (WI ’05) all had three hits for the 66ers. Craig knocked in three runs. Justin Thomas (WI ’06) allowed four runs over five innings and picked up his third win in the California League.

Everett (Short Season-A – 8-3; 2nd Northwest League West Division): Everett lost 3-1 to Salem-Keizer. Greg Halman hit a homer to lead off the bottom of the first for the Sox, but they would pick up only three more hits. Mike Schiling pitched seven innings and allowed three unearned runs to get the loss.

AZL M’s (Rookie – 4-3; T-2nd Arizona League): The Mariners lost 6-4 to the Athletics. Alex Liddi had three hits and two RBI for the Mariners, who have lost three straight.
