The Seattle Post-Intelligencer web site has a report that Brandon Morrow, Seattle's number one pick in the 2005 draft, has signed.
The report adds on to the end where Morrow will begin his career as a Mariner farmhand.
And, if that report is also on the Official Mariner Site, it has to be true. Again speculation about where Morrow will start is focused on the 66ers.The Mariners plan to have the 6-foot-3, 190-pound Morrow start at Class-A Inland Empire in San Bernardino, Calif., soon.
It is probable that Morrow will begin his Mariners career some 500 miles south of where he grew up in Rohnert Park, Calif., with Inland Empire of the California League. If so, he will join Seattle's first pick from the 2004 draft, Matt Tuiasosopo.
You can go to Baseball America's website for the complete list of Mariner draft picks. It doesn't look like it has been updated recently to reflect signings.
Follow Seattle's 4th round pick, Pitcher Ricky Orta of Miami, 8th round pick pitcher Steve Richard of Clemson, & 15th round pick Drew Fiorenza of Clemson at the College World Series in Omaha.
By the way, Clemson scored eight runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to beat Georgia Tech in the opening game of this year's CWS. Neither Richard nor Fiorenza pitched in the game. Miami begins play on Saturday night at 6:00pm against Oregon State.
