Seattle (MAJ: 31-37; T-3rd AL West): Seattle lost 9-6 at Oakland. The Mariners took a 3-0 lead with three runs in the top of the third inning, but Jarrod Washburn gave up six runs in five innings for the loss. Former Appleton Fox Raul Ibanez had a pair of hits and scored a run for the M’s. Richie Sexson also had two hits and drove in a run. Emiliano Fruto (WI ’02) gave up two runs in relief.
Tacoma (AAA – 34-33; 2nd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma beat Sacramento 8-3. Rob Johnson (WI ’05) had a bases loaded triple during a 7-run fifth inning for the Rainiers. Bobby Livingston (WI ’03) went six innings and gave up two runs on seven hits for his second win of the season. Shin-soo Choo (WI ’02) and Adam Jones (WI ’04) each had three hits for Tacoma.
San Antonio (AA – 26-39; 4th Texas League South Division): San Antonio beat Midland 6-5. Sebastien Boucher (WI ’05) was 2-for-4 with three RBI for the Missions. San Antonio had a 6-2 lead going into the bottom of the ninth inning. Stephen Kahn (WI ’05) allowed three runs on three hits and a walk in the bottom of the ninth, but left the tying run at third and the winning run at first by getting a groundout to end the game.
Inland Empire (High-A – 37-29; 1st California League South Division): Inland Empire shutout San Jose 7-0. Justin Thomas (WI ’06) pitched six shutout innings, scattered six hits, and struck out eight for his first California League win. Tom Oldham (WI ’04) got the save by shutting out the Giants for the final three innings. Marshall Hubbard (WI ’05) homered and Brent Johnson (WI ’05) and Josh Womack (WI ’05) each had three hits for the 66ers.
