Mariner System Report (Games of 6/22)

Seattle (MAJ: 36-38; 3rd AL West): Seattle lost 4-2 to the Dodgers. The M’s held a 2-0 lead on home runs by former Appleton Fox Raul Ibanez and Yuniesky Betancourt. But the Dodgers got a run in the fifth and three more in the sixth and held on for the win. Felix Hernandez (WI ’03) gave up four runs on eleven hits (all singles) with six strikeouts and took the loss.

Tacoma (AAA – 38-35; 2nd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma beat Portland 3-2 in twelve innings. Hunter Brown (WI ’02) singled home the winning run off Aquilino Lopez (WI ’00). Chris Snelling (WI ’00) homered in the game for the Rainiers. Bobby Livingston (WI ’03) allowed two runs on four hits over seven innings for a no decision.

San Antonio (AA – 28-41; 1-0 second half T-1st Texas League South Division): San Antonio beat Springfield 8-2. Wladimir Balentien (WI ’04) went 4-for-4 with a homer and three RBI to lead the Mission offense. Ryan Feierabend (WI ’04) struck out eight and allowed just two runs on five hits over seven innings for the win. Mike Wilson (WI ’05) and Matt Tuiasosopo (WI ’05) each made their Double-A debut for San Antonio. Wilson was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Tuiasosopo was 1-for-4.

Inland Empire (High-A – 41-32, 2-1 second half; 2nd California League South Division): Inland Empire beat Modesto 4-1. Cibney Bello (WI ’05) pitched six hitless innings with seven strikeouts. But, he walked seven. But, he got the win. Josh Womack (WI ’05) drove in a pair of runs. Joe Woerman (WI ’06) made his California League debut and gave up a hit and a walk, but no runs in 1/3 of an inning.

Everett (Short Season-A – 3-1; T-3rd Northwest League West Division): Everett lost 10-1 to Tri-City. The AquaSox held a 1-0 lead after a run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Sox starter Doug Fister pitched five hitless innings with nine strikeouts, but the Everett bullpen gave up two in the seventh, three in the eighth, and five in the ninth.

AZL M’s (Rookie – 1-0; T-1st Arizona League): The AZL Mariners beat the Padres 9-8. Wellington Dotel hit a home run in the bottom of the ninth for the win. Alex Gary (WI ’06) homered and drove in three on a rehab assignment for the M’s.
