Mariner System Report (Games of 6/20)

Seattle (MAJ: 35-37; 3rd AL West): Seattle beat the Dodgers 9-4. Joel Pineiro (WI ’98) scattered ten hits over 6-1/3 innings for the win. Rafael Soriano (WI ’00) pitched two scoreless innings for his second save of the season. Richie Sexson and Adrian Beltre both homered for the M’s and former Appleton Fox Raul Ibanez added a pair of hits and a pair of RBI.

Tacoma (AAA – 36-35; T-2nd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma was off on Tuesday.

San Antonio (AA – 27-41; 4th Texas League South Division): San Antonio was off on Tuesday, but Wladimir Balentien (WI ’04) won the Texas League Home Run Derby before the All-Star game in Little Rock, Arkansas. Balentien went 0-for-2 in the game.


Inland Empire (High-A – 40-31, 1-0 second half; T-1st California League South Division): Inland Empire claimed the first half South Division title with a 16-10 win over High Desert. Yung Chi Chen (WI ’05) had four hits and three RBI; Mike Wilson hit a three-run homer; Brent Johnson (WI ’05) and JB Tucker (WI ’06) each had three RBI for the 66ers. Justin Thomas (WI ’06) gave up three runs over five innings for the win.

Everett (Short Season-A – 2-0; T-1st Northwest League West Division): The Sox beat Tri-City 4-2. Chao Kuan Wu (WI ’06) was 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Sox. Steve Uhlmansiek allowed one hit over five innings but got a no decision. Joe White and Manelik Pimentel each homered for Everett.
