ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The Rattlers trailed the Loons 4-0 after Great Lakes scored four first inning runs. Then, rain stopped play for almost two hours after the top of the second inning. Wisconsin’s offense tied the game with four runs in the top of the fourth. Andy Hargrove’s two run single in the top of the ninth inning drove in the go ahead runs for a 6-4 Rattler win.
HITLESS: Rattler starting pitcher Chris Tillman allowed four runs (two earned) in the bottom of the first inning and was scheduled to come back out for the bottom of the second inning. But, the 1 hour, 51 minute rain delay kept Tillman from coming back. The Wisconsin bullpen took over the game from there. Three Rattler relievers combined for eight hitless innings to hold the Loons offense off the scoreboard. Steve Uhlmansiek was first out of the pen and pitched 3-2/3 innings with two walks and six strikeouts. Joe Kantakevich was next and went 3-1/3 innings of perfect relief. Andrew Barb nailed down the win with 1-2-3 ninth inning.
GETTING TECHNICAL: Technically, the Rattler pitchers tossed nine consecutive innings without allowing a hit. After Matt Berezay’s single made the score 4-0, Tillman retired Adolfo Gonzalez. Berezay was caught stealing for out number two. Tillman struck out Josh Bell for the final out.
COMEBACK KIDS: The rally from the four run deficit was the biggest comeback for the Rattlers this season. Hargrove started the comeback with a solo homer in the top of the fourth. Gavin Dickey singled in a pair of runs later in the inning. The tying run scored when Ougi Diaz grounded into a double play. Hargrove lined a single off the glove of Bell in the top of the ninth to chase home the winning runs.
GOOD EYE: The Rattler hitters drew a season high six walks last night. In contrast, they only struck out five times.
STREAKING: Carlos Peguero singled in the seventh inning and is on a six game hitting streak (9-for-23). Dickey had two hits yesterday and extended his hitting streak to five games (7-for-18).
OPPOSING STARTER: Josh Wall was the second round pick of the Dodgers in the 2005 draft out of Central Private High School in Baker, Louisiana. He was 1-3 with a 3.86 ERA in five games (four starts) for the Gulf Coast League Dodgers in 2005. Last season, Wall was 3-5 with a 5.86 ERA for Ogden in the Pioneer League. He walked 33 and struck out 41 in 14 games (all starts) for the Raptors. In his most recent start for the Loons, Wall was beaten by the Beloit Snappers at Dow Diamond on May 4. Beloit got to him for four runs on five hits over five innings. Wall walked three and struck out four in that game. This is his first start against the Rattlers and his first appearance against an affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.
