ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The Rattlers won their second straight game with a 4-2 decision over the Loons. Gavin Dickey scored on a passed ball in the top of the eighth inning to break a 2-2 tie. Andrew Barb pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth to record the save.
THE PEN IS MIGHTIER: The Wisconsin relief corps continued its stellar pitching in this series last night. Kyle Parker, Natividad Dilone, and Barb combined to allow one run on four hits over the final six innings. In the last two games, the relievers have allowed one run in fourteen innings. In this series, the Rattler bullpen has given up three earned runs in 20 innings.
FOR THE WIN: Dilone picked up his first Midwest League win with 1-1/3 innings of scoreless relief. The righty entered the game in the bottom of the seventh with the score tied 2-2 and runners on first and second. He walked the first man he faced to load the bases. But, he got David Sutherland to ground into an inning ending force out. He then worked a 1-2-3 eighth inning before turning the game over to Barb.
MR. PERFECT: Barb is 4-for-4 in save opportunities. He is 3-for-3 in save situations on this road trip.
BACK IN THE SADDLE: Last night, Rattler pitcher Ricky Orta made his first start since coming off the disabled list earlier on this road trip. He pitched three innings and gave up one unearned run on one hit and two walks with two strikeouts before reaching his pitch limit.
FOUR WAS ALL IT TOOK: Last night was the third time the Rattlers have won a game this season with four or fewer runs in a game.
STREAKING: Carlos Peguero singled in a run in the first inning and tripled in the ninth. He is now on a seven game hitting streak (11-for-27). Dickey had a sixth inning single to extend his hitting streak to six games (8-for-20).
ON THE VERGE: Last night’s win by Wisconsin guaranteed them no worse than a .500 record on this eight game road trip. The Rattlers were 2-2 in South Bend and are 2-1 here at Dow Diamond.
OPPOSING STARTER: Francisco Felix was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Dodgers out of Mexico. Tonight is his ninth appearance and fourth start of the season. In his last start, Felix got a no decision against the Beloit Snappers on May 6 at Dow Diamond. He pitched five innings and gave up three runs (two earned) on six hits with three walks and five strikeouts. As a starter, Felix is 0-1 with a 1.80ERA. Last season, he went 1-0 with a 9.82 ERA in 15 games for Saltillo in the Mexican League. He also pitched for Columbus in the South Atlantic League and was 1-2 with five saves and a 5.46ERA in 21 games. Felix has been pitching in the Dodger system since 2003. This is his first start against the Rattlers and his first appearance against an affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.
