OFFICIALLY A STREAK: The Rattlers win yesterday gave them their first two-game winning streak of the season.
COMEBACK: Yesterday was also the biggest deficit from which the Rattlers have rallied to win a game. Wisconsin trailed 4-1 heading into the top of the seventh inning.
HOW ABOUT THAT BULLPEN: Justin Souza, Uhlmansiek, and Kantakevich combined to pitch four scoreless innings yesterday. Sunday was also the second straight successful save conversion for the Rattlers.
PICK A PECK OF RUNNERS: Uhlmansiek picked off two South Bend runners in the top of the seventh inning. He has three pickoffs this season.
LIDDI’S BACK: Liddi was in the lineup yesterday for the first time since April 29. He had a season high three hits, scored twice, and drove in the winning run.
OUR MAN OUGI: Second baseman Ougi Diaz smacked a two-run single in the seventh inning. He stole second and third and eventually scored on a Leury Bonilla grounder to tie the game 4-4.
BBs vs. K’s: Rattler hitters only struck out three times yesterday. They walked twice.
IN A PINCH: Kuo Hui Lo pinch ran for Carlos Peguero in the top of the eighth. Peguero started the inning with a double. Lo scored on the single by Liddi.
FIVE OR MORE: The Rattlers are 4-2 when they score five or more runs in a game.
TODAY’S MOVE: Anthony Varvaro was put back on the Timber Rattler roster today. Nathan Adcock has been transferred to the roster of the Everett AquaSox. Adcock will stay with the Rattlers and is scheduled as the starting pitcher at Great Lakes on Friday.
OPPOSING STARTER: Eddie Romero was the 9th round pick of the Diamondbacks in the 2006 draft out of Fresno State. Romero was 13-2 with a 3.72ERA in 21 games as a junior for the Bulldogs. His thirteen wins led the Western Athletic Conference. Romero began his professional career with the Yakima Bears. He was 2-2 with an ERA of 3.00 in twelve games (all starts) for the Bears. This is his first appearance against the Timber Rattlers. Romero beat Everett, Seattle’s Northwest League affiliate, in his only appearance against them in 2006. On August 18, he allowed one run on four hits over five innings for the victory. In his last start for the Silver Hawks, Romero took the loss at Peoria despite allowing just two runs on four hits over six innings. He walked two and struck out four in that game against the Chiefs.
