Braves: May 11, 1957

The '57 Braves lost for the fourth time in five games on May 11. The St. Louis Cardinals beat Milwaukee 8-7 in ten innings.

The Braves took a 5-2 lead with four runs in the top of the fifth.
BRAVES 5TH: Logan singled to left; Bruton doubled to right[Logan to third]; Crandall singled to left [Logan scored, Brutonto third]; Spahn grounded into a double play (second toshortstop to first) [Bruton scored (no RBI), Crandall out at second]; O'Connell doubled to right; Aaron doubled to right [O'Connell scored]; Mathews was walked intentionally; Adcock singled to center [Aaron scored, Mathews to second]; SCHMIDT REPLACED L. MCDANIEL (PITCHING); Tanner popped to third in foul territory.

But, the Cardinals came right back against Milwaukee starter Warren Spahn on a two-run homer by Stan Musial in the bottom of the fifth ad an RBI triple by Don Blasingame in the sixth.

Hank Aaron put the Braves up 6-5 with a seventh inning homer. But, Wally Moon gave the Cards a 7-6 lead with a two-run homer.

Milwaukee tied the game in the eighth on a Del Crandall RBI single.

In the bottom of the tenth, back-to-back errors put the first two batters on base. An intentional walk loaded the bases. Ken Boyer singled in the winning run for St. Louis.

The Braves were 14-7 after this loss. They were also tied with Brooklyn for first place in the National League.

The Braves and Cardinals have a doubleheader scheduled for May 12.
