The '57 Braves lost 8-4 at Philadelphia on May 7. It was the first two game losing streak for Milwaukee.
Robin Roberts outpitched Warren Spahn in the game. Roberts pitched a complete game and a 6-1 lead for the Phillies was too big for the Braves to come back from on the day.
The real story of the game was that Granny Hamner homered off Spahn. Not a history making homer. Just the fact that there really was a player named Granny Hamner. That sounds more like a name in a Damon Runyan short story.
Complete box score and play-by-play are HERE.
The Braves are 13-5 and still one game in front of Brooklyn for the lead in the National League.
Series with the Phillies continues at Connie Mack Stadium on May 8
