The '82 Brewers completed a four game sweep of the Twins at County Stadium on May 10. The Brewers won 6-2 behind the hitting of Ben Oglivie and Jim Gantner...yep, Jim Gantner.
Minnesota started the game with Ron Washington singling off Bob McClure. McClure left the game and Jim Slaton came on in relief. The Twins got a pair of runs and that was it for their offense.
The Crew tied the game on a two-out, two-run triple by Gantner in the fourth. Oglivie hit a two-run homer in the fifth for a 4-2 lead. Gantner homered in the sixth and Gorman Thomas singled in a run in the seventh.
Slaton pitched five innings in relief and allowed McClure's run and his own, but picked up the win. Dwight Bernard worked three scoreless innings and Rollie Fingers pitched the ninth inning for a save.
Complete box score and play-by-play are HERE.
The win moved Milwaukee's record to 16-10 and into second place in the AL East. They are still 2-1/2 games behind Boston.
