Congratulations Jackson Sun...

You have just done the 1,000th story on Matt Tuiasosopo and his decision to play baseball over football.

The story is from yesterday, but still worth the read.

Southern League: Jaxx's Tuiasosopo sticking with baseball

Drop by Pringles Park, and you'll find a happy person in Tuiasosopo, the starting third baseman for the Diamond Jaxx. While the Jaxx (11-15) currently sit in last place in the Southern League's North Division, Tuiasosopo has emerged as one of the league's top offensive players.

He entered Wednesday's game against Mobile hitting .371 with a league-best 20 runs scored and 10 RBIs.

After flying to Memphis on Wednesday, Manu Tuiasosopo drove to Jackson to spend a few days with his youngest son. He sat alone on the back row of the third-base side for the first eight innings of Wednesday's game before moving behind home plate in the ninth.

The eldest Tuiasosopo showed little emotion as the Jaxx rallied to beat Mobile, 3-2, in 11 innings. Matt didn't have his best game of the year, finishing 0-for-2 with three walks. Dad, though, was just happy to see his son play for the first time this season.

"I love my son. I'm very proud of him," Manu said. "My wife and I always encouraged our kids to do whatever was in their hearts. I'm glad he's living his dream. There's nothing more as a father you can expect from your son."
