The '97 Mariners lost 9-5 at Baltimore on May 11. It was one big inning for the Orioles that put this game away as a former Brewer had a very good day.
Seattle was only down 3-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth. The Orioles loaded the bases and BJ Surhoff tripled in all three runners. Surhoff had homered earlier in the game and finished the day 3-for-5 with six RBI. Two more runs scored in the inning to put the Orioles up 8-2.
Scott Erickson allowed two runs in six innings and won his sixth game of the season.
Seattle did have four homers in the game. Dan Wilson had a pair. Paul Sorrento and Edgar Martinez each hit one, but it wasn't enough.
Complete box score and play-by-play are HERE.
The loss dropped Seattle to 21-14. They are still in first place in the AL West and their lead is one game over the Texas Rangers.
Seattle is on to Milwaukee for a series with the Brewers that begins on May 12.
