Brewers: May 12, 1982

The '82 Brewers lost 9-7 at Kansas City and the Royals got the three-game series sweep with the win.

Paul Molitor homered off Dennis Leonard to start the game. The Royals tied the game in the bottom of the second on back-to-back triples by Frank White and Greg Pryor off Randy Lerch.

Milwaukee went back in front in the third on a Cecil Cooper RBI single to drive in Marshall Edwards. But, KC tied the game again on an RBI double by Hal McRae in the bottom of the third.

The Royals went in front with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Pryor doubled in two runs and scored on a two-out single by John Wathan.

Milwaukee used the long ball in the top of the fifth to get back to within 5-4. Edwards and Molitor hit back-to-back homers to start the inning.

But, the Royals scored three times in the bottom of the sixth. Dwight Bernard gave up a run and left with runners on base. Jim Slaton came in later in the inning and McRae greeted him with a two-run double for an 8-4 lead.

Molitor singled in a run in the seventh and that was it for Leonard. Dan Quisenberry closed out the inning. But, in the eighth, the Crew got a run off the Royal closer on an RBI grounder by Jim Gantner. That got Milwaukee to within 8-6.

Kansas City scored a run in the eighth when Pryor scored on an RBI single by Willie Wilson.

That made the third Molitor home run of the game exciting, but in the end, meaningless as Quisenberry struck out Robin Yount and got Cooper to ground out for the save.

Molitor three homers, four hits, four RBI. McRae 3-for-4 three RBI. Pryor 3-for-3, 3 runs, 3 RBI.
