It's back
Jay's Rattler Alumni Report is back and -- of course -- I knocked it off the headlines on the front page of the Rattlers website without realizing it. Sorry, Jay.
He covered one thing I wanted to mention and has an exhaustive list of ex-Rattlers who are in the Independent Leagues.
The one thing I wanted to mention was the Pirates released Chris Snelling. Dang. If he pops up anywhere, I'll make a note of it...or Jay will.
Did I say exhaustive list...These are just a few:
Jon Nelson and Matt Hagen, who were teammates on the '03 Rattlers are now teammates for the Somerset Patriots in the Atlantic League.
Brent Metheny (Winnipeg) and Craig James (Schaumburg) are both in the Northern League.
Chris Colton, Tanner Watson, and Paul Fagan were Frontier League All-Stars.
Click the link for the whole thing.

Alumni Report
Jay has the latest Alumni Report over at the Timber Rattler home page.
He mentions that it is a light report this week, but I did want to highlight a few player moves:
He mentions that it is a light report this week, but I did want to highlight a few player moves:
Philadelphia signed LHP Jason Mackintosh ('04)There are also a few mentions of some moves to the DL and HOT 'N COLD
It never takes a left handed pitcher long to find a job.
Can-Am League
New Jersey Jackals released RHP Juan Done ('02)
During his six years in the minors, Done won 19 games, with 9 of them coming as a Timber Rattler.

Alumni Report
Should be just a routine Alumni report over at the Rattler website...wait...what?...Holy!
United LeagueI made a beeline for this when I saw the picture. But, I probably didn't miss any other shockers in this....WHAT!?!?
Harlingen WhiteWings promoted Caleb Balbuena ('99,'00) from pitching coach to manager
Not only was Balbuena the pitching coach, he was also the team's closer, going 0-1 with 7 saves and a 1.08 ERA before his promotion.
Northern League
Winnipeg Goldeyes acquired INF Chad Ehrnsberger ('03) from Southern Maryland (Atlantic) for future considerations
The Goldeyes needed a new third baseman to replace the league's leading hitter. That player? None other than Brent Metheny ('03,'04), who was hitting .391 when he left to play in the Chinese Professional Baseball League.
I'll repeat that last part...

I'm just sharing this one:
Of note (as always for me) are the Independent Leagues:
Atlantic LeagueHOT AND COLD!
Long Island Ducks traded OF Jamal Strong ('01) to Camden for LHP Abe Alvarez
Strong joins former Timber Rattlers pitchers Clint Nageotte ('01) and Enmanuel Ulloa ('98,'99) on the Ducks.
Can-Am League
Ottawa Rapidz released RHP Cibney Bello ('98)
Bello's Canadian vacation will have to wait for another time.
Golden Baseball League
St. George Roadrunners agreed to terms with LHP Harold Williams ('06,'07). Traded 1B Ryan Brown, OF Gary Harris ('03), and LHP Danny Hall to Reno for 1B Will Henderson and a player to be named
One T-Rat comes in, one T-Rat goes out. Apparently Reno plans on playing Harris at 2B, a position I don't believe he has played as a professional.
I'm just sharing this one:
Hot - Shin Soo Choo ('01,'02) Indians .357, 4 2B, 2 HR, 8 RBI in 28 at bats in June

Of note to the independent league set:
Northern LeagueHOT and COLD return as well!
Winnipeg Goldeyes released RHP Ivan Blanco ('05)
Blanco was horrible for High Desert last season (10.72 ERA in 22.2 innings) and couldn't crack the independent Goldeyes roster this spring.

Jay's been busy
This is the mother of all Timber Rattler Alumni reports at the Rattler home page.
Picking one thing out would be a disservice to the whole. Head over there and see if there are any Timber Rattler names you recognize.
Also, Jay took a look at where the Rattlers on the 2007 opening day roster are at now, a look at ex-Rattlers (and Foxes) who were on Major League rosters to open 2008, and HOT and COLD is back.
