Is it wrong?

The reason I'm asking "Is it wrong?" is due to something that happened yesterday and my reaction to it.

This is unusual because I rarely, if ever, reveal anything too personal about myself on this blog -- or in real life for that matter. But, this has been weighing on me and has me doubting myself as a normal human being.

Feel free to discuss amongst yourselves regarding the question, Is it wrong that when I heard about Kevin Greene becoming a linebacker coach for the Green Bay Packers I immediately thought of this:




Not much wrestling in that first part...But, worth it for the way the new linebacker coach gets fired up in the ring. With a few football drills and...oh, just watch it.

Greene gets into the ring about 2:30 into the second video and cleans house after taking the "hot tag" from Steve McMichael.

Not to give away the ending, but Greene is really going to want to beat the Bears for revenge.

And to answer my own question....Yes. Yes, I think it is wrong.

So that's what happened

Sunday -- right before the end of the third quarter -- the station carrying the Green Bay at Jacksonville game went blank. The picture came back just before the Jaguars took the lead.

Why was there a gap?

"The pump that circulates water to cool the transmitter failed," said Patrick Krohlow, a spokesman for the Green Bay station. "That caused the equipment to shut down."

While the analog signal continued, those watching WLUK digitally over the air or through cable, satellite or telephone systems couldn't see the game.

That mandatory switch over to digital TV seems like a heck of an idea.

The museum looks like your typical ranch home, a rather unassuming sight as it sits there behind a large front lawn along Sunset Circle, a sleepy stretch of neighborhood road just north of downtown De Pere whose looping path cuts close to the eastern banks of the Fox River and intercepts Riverside Drive at both ends.

Then again, it is a home. Andy lives there. So does his mother, Katie.

And so did Vince Lombardi and his family, back when the legendary coach was busy transforming tiny Green Bay into Titletown and forging his Packers into one of the NFL's great dynasties.

"It's Green Bay's Graceland," Andy, 49, said with a smile.

That's because fans continue to flock to this little slice of Camelot to pay homage to greatness, some choosing only to stare at the red brick of the exterior as they stand there and wonder about the grand stories the inside walls could tell.

Packer bye? No problem.

For the last five or six years, WTMJ in Milwaukee has run classic Green Bay Packer games during Packer bye weeks.

In the past, I've heard replays of Super Bowl XXXI, The Ice Bowl, and Brett Favre's Monday Night game at Oakland.

This year is perhaps the greatest Packer game that was played while I was in college....The Instant Replay Game against the Bears.

During the time in which the replay booth discerned their decision on the play, Majkowski had a memorable exchange with a hall of fame linebacker, the Bears' Mike Singletary.

"Before they announced (the changed outcome of the play), I was standing near midfield with the referee and I was just saying what a shame it would be if they didn't change this call and make the correct call," said Majkowski.

Then Singletary, now the interim head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, chimed in.

"He kind of gave me a little razzing. He said to me, 'nice game, Majik. You played a hell of a game. Too bad you're not going to win again. Too bad it's not going to happen again this year. You guys just can't seem to get over the hump.' "

The Bears had beaten Green Bay eight consecutive times going into the Instant Replay game. Majkowski was confident it wouldn't be nine.

"I did the same thing to him at the time. I said, 'Whatever! Just hang out and see what the refs say.' When they came down and said 'after further review, we have a reversal,' man, the place went nuts, and the crowd started going nuts.

Why was this perhaps the greatest Packer game while I was in college? Bullet point time:

• I went to college where the Bears trained
• I was surrounded by Bear fans
• The Packers had not been -- oh what's the phrase -- not very good for years
• They beat the Bears
• Jim Irwin and Max McGee were on fire during this game
• The sounds of the Packer and Bear fans around Melcher Hall and the rest of campus as the play was being reviewed were hilarious
  

As this post goes up, the game just went to the two-minute warning for the first half. This is well worth the listen today.

Who's up for a little softball?

Donald Driver is and he will be playing at the home of the Timber Rattlers.

The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and the Donald Driver Foundation are proud to announce Green Bay Packers Pro-Bowl wide receiver Donald Driver will succeed Brett Favre in hosting the annual Packers Offense-Defense softball game. Favre, who hosted the game for the past seven seasons, retired in March. With Favre's retirement Donald became the team's most tenured player. The three time Pro-Bowl player is excited to take the reigns from Brett and carry on a Fox Valley summer tradition. "I always enjoyed playing in the game and being a part of a fun tradition. Now I'm glad I can take over for Brett and host it for all my teammates, " Driver said.

The game will be on Sunday, June 15 and that won't be the only thing going on that day.
