Your nightly weather post

Hi, folks. I'm Telemachus, the Tarping Tapir. Just letting you know that the tarp is on the field at Time Warner Cable Field. Since this is the only time that Bowling Green...I mean...Dayton...Since this is the only time that Dayton is in town, every effort will be made to get in the game tonight.

Check back here, facebook, and/or twitter for details.

Pardon my mild oath! I, Carl, the Rain Hating Camel do not like this weather one bit. It is raining and there are two hours to game time. Come on! I'll bet that it rained like twice when the Timber Rattlers were out of town.

I really want to see the Timber Rattlers play tonight....It's the first home game...um, Friday night home game...yeah, Friday night home game in over two weeks.

You may be getting a sense of deja vu reading this post.

Weather Update in Quad Cities [UPDATED]

I'm Telemachus, the Tarping Tapir. The tarp is on the field at Modern Woodmen Park. The rain is pouring down and the weather...well, you take a look at it.

As a wise man once said, "I don't think the heavy stuff is coming down for awhile yet."

Stay tuned.

I am Perry, the Postponement Penguin. Technically, there should be someone else to make this announcement since this is a cancellation.

BUT, Mehring hasn't hired anyone else to make that announcement, yet.

SO, Today's game between the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and the Quad Cities River Bandits has been rained out. There will be no makeup game since this is the final time the teams meet in the first half.

The Rattlers return home to start a long homestand on Friday. For details on the four-day, five-game series with the Beloit Snappers, please follow this link.

May 10, 2010: Weather Update from Telly

Hey, everyone! Telemachus, the Tarping Tapir! I am just letting you know that the tarp is on the field at Modern Woodmen Park. The weather doesn't look good on the banks of the Mississippi River here in Davenport, Iowa.

But, they are hoping for a window.

Mehring just asked if that window would be able to open since it is at Modern Woodmen Park.

I don't get it, but I am going to pretend like I do. Don't tell him I said that.

Here is the weather page for Davenport.

It would be a good thing to get this game in tonight.

Weather Update in Beloit

The tarp is on the field in Beloit. We are in a rain delay.

Here is the weather for Beloit including the RADAR!

Correction, Telemachus the tarping tapir. I, Perry the postponement penguin, have an announcement.

The Snappers have postponed tonight's game. There will be a doubleheader on Saturday. Game one starts at 4:00pm. Game two will follow the conclusion of game one. Both games are scheduled for seven innings.

Meet a couple members of the cast

Many of you regular readers know these guys. Consider this an introduction for the new people.

This is Carl, the rain-hating camel.

This is Brick, the bad weather hating bactrian

This is Telemachus, the tarping tapir.

This is Fairfax, the field conditions ferrett.

They haven't been around much and -- to tell the truth -- they really don't want to be around that much.

But, right now, it's raining, the tarp is on the field, and the field is pretty wet. Brick is around to try to keep those thunderstorms away.

Fan Fest is still on for a noon start. Stay tuned either here or to http://www.twitter.com/timberrattlers for updates.

For you new readers, consider these guys as a code. The readers who have been around for awhile already know this, but click your and drag your cursor from left to right on the space below to find out the secret behind the secret to the code.

Mehring is crazy.

Just to let you know (UPDATED)

The tarp is on the field and there is a light rain. But, it (the rain) should be moving along. It (the tarp) will be staying on as a precautionary measure until it is time to get the field ready for the game.

Today's game is still scheduled to start at 1:05pm.

The tarp is off the field and the rain has stopped and the game will start on time. Come on out.

8/07/2009

All that for this?

The tarp is on the field in Peoria. But, the rain is starting to break up and the Sun is starting to come out from behind the clouds. Looks like it's going to be PLAY BALL! time in less than two hours!

Weather update

The tarp is off the field! The Tarp is off the field.

This is Telemachus the Tarping Tapir reporting from Fort Wayne. Also, game time has been pushed back to 7:15pm EDT/6:15pm CDT.

July 28, 2009: Weather Update

The tarp is on the field. The tarp is on the field.

This is Telemachus the Tarping Tapir and reporting from Fort Wayne, the tarp is on the field!

And I am Carl the Rain Hating Camel to report that it is now raining in Fort Wayne. I hate that. I know that both teams could use the day off today. The Rattlers arrived in Fort Wayne at 4:30am and the TinCaps arrived from Burlington at 7:00am.

But, with an 11am game tomorrow and a night game on Thursday, a doubleheader just just doesn't fit into the equation.

Brick the Bad Weather Hating Bactrian here. Just heard some thunder and saw some lightning. "They" are calling for this tonight. I hate "them" and I hate "this". Hope is for losers like Carl up there, but to borrow a phrase from him, I hope this moves through in a &*#%$! hurry. Okay. I may have added that &*#%$! to his phrase.

Stay tuned.

Rain Delay Theater -- June 19, 2009

Hi. Brick, here. Bad weather is coming. I can feel it in my humps. It's going to be bad and we may be in for a long night. The Cougars have a big crowd rolling into the stadium. Plus, they are in a playoff hunt and do not want a doubleheader tomorrow. If there is one thing that I hate as much as bad weather, it would be waiting. But, Brick the wait hating bactrian just doesn't have the same ring to it.
Brick is right! The tarp is on the field but it isn't raining...yet. But, when it does, you'll all be glad that the tarp is on the field. Go look for yourselves.

In the interim, enjoy the rich cheesey goodness of this baseball themed Remington Steele episode with the tasty Stephanie Zimbalist from the files of Hulu.

Back on (UPDATED)

Bad news: Tarp is on the field.

Good news: It's 1-0 Rattlers in the sixth and it's an official game.

Stay tuned for updates.

2:35pm. The tarp is off the field. What's that, Fairfax, the field conditions ferret? You have something to add?

Thank you, thank you, Telly. The field, the field takes water well and the grounds crew is hard at work. The teams, the teams will start warming up now and the game, the game will restart at 3:00pm. 3:00pm.

And again (UPDATE & BUMP)

Carl and Brick are both a little down right now. It's raining again...It's raining again...Sorry, I used to follow Supertramp around on tours in the 70's. Great band! Very Underrated!

Where was I?

Oh, right. I'm Telly, the Tarping Tapir. Just letting you know that the tarp is on the field at Time Warner Cable, um, Field. The team wants to play this game, because a postponement means another doubleheader tomorrow. So, that means it may be awhile before there is a decision made on a postponement.

If there are any changes, I'll update this post right here.

In the meantime, enjoy your breakfast in America.

10:15am UPDATE: MAN, DOES SUPERTRAMP WROCK, OR WHAT!?!?!

Um, the tarp is now off the field and the grounds crew is taking care of their duties. We are still hoping to PLAYBALL! today!
