The Offseason Finale

Season One of The Offseason has come to an end. I'd post it, but I can't find it on Youtube, yet. So, there is a link to a different player at the bottom of the post.

To introduce the episode, I asked the host of the best. clipshow. ever to join us today.
Hi, I'm Troy McClure. You may remember me from such baseball teams as the Fond du Lac Webfoots, the Eau Claire-Chippewa Falls Orphans, and the Freeport Pretzels.

Tonight we're here to honor America's favorite offseason video series produced by a minor league baseball team that features a snake with legs, who also happens to be mute.

We've received dozens of letters from fans wanting to know more about the show. Tonight, we'll answer some of your questions. Professor Lawrence Pierce of the University of Chicago writes, "I think Fang gets stupider every episode." That's not a question, Professor, but we'll let the viewers judge for themselves.

The Timber Rattlers will be at Brewers On Deck with a booth, bobbleheads, and ticket specials.

I'll have more details later today and update this post with that information.

For those of you unfamiliar with Brewers On Deck it is...

set for Sunday, January 31 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Midwest Airlines Center in downtown Milwaukee. Brewers On Deck is the annual winter fan festival that sets the winter fires of Wisconsin roaring toward the warm breezes of Spring Training in Arizona.

Brewers On Deck will feature a number of activities for the entire family. Autographs and photos from Brewers players and coaches, interactive games in the Kids Area, Q&A sessions and game shows with Brewers players, coaches and broadcasters, the latest Brewers merchandise-including 40th Anniversary logo apparel-and many other features will all be a part of Brewers On Deck.

Again, we'll be there...and by we, I mean other people from the front office and Fang. Not me. It's a group effort.

The main details:

The Timber Rattlers will be offering ticket deals for attendees of the event. Fans can receive either a bobblehead from the Rehab Series or co-branded Timber Ratters/Brewers hats with a purchase of the On Deck ticket specials. Select team merchandise, including various popular co-branded items, will also be available at the table.

How does a MWL beat writer spend the winter?

Well, if they are in Iowa...

They either get to cover a blowout loss by the basketball Hawkeyes to Illinois in Champaign like Steve Batterson of the Quad Cities Times.

For Iowa fans who stuck with the Hawkeyes’ Orange Bowl game on Tuesday night, it would be easy to say that they didn’t miss a thing by bypassing Iowa’s 59-42 basketball loss at Illinois.

It would be easy, but it wouldn’t be right.

It would be easy to label this just another slow start for a team that has now started slowly in its last two Big Ten games.

Just as the Hawkeyes have learned lessons in victory, there are lessons to be learned from Tuesday’s lopsided defeated at Champaign’s so-called House of ‘Paign.

Or, they get to go to Miami to blog and write about weather, food, and Iowa's win over Georgia Tech in the Orange Bowl like Susan Denk of The Hawkeye in Burlington.

It's basically the same thing.

I mentioned on my facebook page that this is a little too similar to the "Yankee Swap" episode from season two of The Office. But, at least it doesn't have Dwight sticking a teapot up his nose.

It's called The Offseason. It stars Fang and the front office crew. The credits may be a bit familiar.

On Deck with the Brewers

It's a little old, but I did want to make sure that something was on this blog about the Brewers on Deck event on January 24.

The Brewers announced new plans for the fan event on Monday, moving it from Miller Park just before Opening Day to the Midwest Airlines Center on Saturday, Jan. 24. The team will begin selling tickets at 10 a.m. CT on Tuesday, with a portion of proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Brewers Charities. As usual, the event will feature autograph, photo and question-and-answer sessions with Brewers players and coaches, baseball clinics and other events geared toward kids and opportunities to purchase new team apparel.

This is not in the Adam McCalvy story linked above. So, I'm going off the press release that was sent out earlier this week.

In addition, baseball concessions, interactive games, highlight videos, and music will be featured at Brewers On Deck. Representatives from the Brewers Minor League affiliates will be present, giving Brewers fans a glimpse of the future.

Brewer Minor League affiliates....HEY! That's us! Leaving it out of the website version must have been an oversight.
