I thought that it was dinner time and I didn't have enough time to do this at the stadium because I was looking at the clock on my computer and it said 6:00pm. Then, I remembered. It was only 4:00pm. I'm not ready to go eat dinner at 4:00pm...yet.

A very large game of pepper...or several smaller games of pepper?

This is one of my ideas for a Will Call set up at Time Warner Cable Field.

The Brewers were still playing the Dodgers in the big league park. I got a quick picture of the game. That's Trevor Hoffman on the mound in the top of the seventh.

The Big Unit, Bill Michaels of 620 WTMJ, was getting ready to do Sports Central from Maryvale when I took this picture.

I thought about going over to say hello, but...he was on the air, man!...Invite him to a Rattlers game this year? Maybe?

Rattlers Spring Training Game #4

Today's game was Wisconsin vs. Brevard County in an intra-system matchup. Entertaining game and it finished in a 1-1 tie. Thanks to a sparkling defensive play by Kyle Dhanani to turn a game-ending double play.

The details are below - and since there were plenty of ex-Rattlers on BC - I have included their stats as well.

Rattlers Spring Training Game #3

The Timber Rattlers rallied to win the game with three, two-out runs in the top of the ninth inning. By prior agreement, there was no bottom of the ninth inning. Hey! It's spring training!

Rattlers Spring Training Game #2

The Timber Rattlers beat the Kannapolis Intimidators 8-4.Kannapolis is the South Atlantic League affiliate of the Chicago White Sox.

There was some familiarity between the teams. The Brewers and White Sox have affiliates in the Arizona League and the Pioneer League.

I'll have a fuller writeup on the day over at the main Rattlers website later tonight.

A couple of things that you may notice in the unofficial boxscore below: A lot of walks by Rattlers pitchers. And it was very good to see Santo Mazanillo on the hill.

Three things that I will note in the writeup, but is not indicated below.

1. I had five errors for the defense today
2. Despite the errors, the defense made some very nice plays
3. There were a lot of stolen bases for the Intimidators.
   

All of those are of note, but not of concern this early in Spring Training. But, the possible future Rattlers are 2-0.

About today

The Timber Rattlers are scheduled to play the White Sox Class A affiliate today at 3:00pm CDT in a Spring Training game.

Rattlers Spring Training Game #1

I think that the way I am going to handle this is to put the hard stats in this post and develop more of a Day 1 at Spring Training article for the main website.

If you would like as close to a play-by-play of the game today (a 9-3 win over the possible Lake County Captains) head over to my twitter feed. The post that starts everything is this one. Then, just scroll up to the top. (Note: You can stop when I make the Culver's reference.)

Keep in mind - when you are looking at any of these numbers - this was a Spring Training game. The Timber Rattlers batted in the bottom of the ninth and the Captains batted in the top of the tenth despite the Rattlers having a 9-2 lead when the Captains made their final out in the top of the ninth.

Also, there were two inning that were rolled. Meaning, the pitcher on the mound went to (or near) his pitch count before the third out was recorded in that inning. The frame just ended after (or near) that pitch count instead of bringing in a reliever.
