Travel Pictures (South Bend)

View from my hotel window yesterday afternoon.

Hotel art in this downtown hotel is both pastoral:

and urny...is that a word that means there are a lot of urns?

These pictures are from last night as Gozer the Gozerian tried to come through a portal on the building across the street.

View from my Hotel Window (Peoria: April 28)

Ground floor room.

I just missed the guy on the riding mower going past the window at 8:45am.

That almost takes away from how nice a place this is.

Back for the first time in 2010

I'll compress this down into one post instead of the usual two.

The View from my Hotel Window

Ah...poolside room at a Phoenix, Arizona hotel.

Not all it's cracked up to be.

Hotel Art

The only differences between these pictures is the amount of fruit in the bowl and the spiral design thingy in the background.

Returning today

The view from my hotel window in Burlington:
Ground floor room. No window screen. A view of the parking garage. Very relaxing.

However, if I can figure out a way to get these on the bus undamaged, the Poker Playing Dogs painting may have some company at the trailer.

I'm calm just looking at them. Can you feel it?

Hotel Stuff (Quad Cities)

Just putting them all into one post:

The sign for this particular company says Safety and Quality First. Well, which is it? They can't both be first?

How's this for a hotel room. It's better than the trailer.

I like my framed movie poster of The Terminator better.

Oh I’d rather walk a winding road
Rather know the things I know
See the world with my own eyes
No regrets, no looking back, no goodbyes
No goodbyes

Someday I'll go where there ain't no rain or snow
‘Til then, I travel alone
And I make my bed with the stars above my head
And I dream of a place called home

The View from my hotel window -- Dayton

This was the only way to get the shot...of a evergreen...and the reflection of the camera.

The View from my hotel window -- Cedar Rapids (different hotel)

The other team hotel in Cedar Rapids was hit by the flooding of the Cedar River last week. So we needed to switch to a different hotel about 20 minutes from the ballpark.

The front of this hotel is something else, but I haven't had time to get pictures of it. So, here is the view from the window of the new hotel.

The route we took to the ballpark yesterday took us through downtown Cedar Rapids and I may have a few words on what we saw that later in the week.

The View from my hotel window -- Burlington

Great a ground floor room.

Back that up a little bit...

Screen windows. They can be your friend or they can be your enemy.

The View from my hotel window -- Peoria

I'm more than a little concerned with the meter reading I took from the Cheddar's in Peoria. Way too much power consumption for a business it's size. I'll have to stop in at some point this weekend.

The View from my hotel window -- Lansing

Under the spreading chestnut tree,
I sold you and you sold me...

Wait! Do you see that. Here is a better view....

I see a sock, a beer bottle, and various other purchases from the nearby liquor store. An empty pack of Marlboro Gold is not in the picture. None of these are my brands.

The View from my hotel window

Or, as the case may be in Beloit, The View from my hotel window AND door.

The courtyard is especially peaceful this morning.

The View from my hotel window

Quad Cities team hotel on the morning of 4/4/08:

To be fair, this picture should have been taken this morning. The sun is out. The birds are chirping. The Cracker Barrel sign is particularly gleamy. There is a doubleheader. I'm almost....what's the word...optimistic?

It almost makes me forget that I got on the wrong elevator at the stadium today and had to go through the kitchen on the suite level to get to the press box...Almost.
