These may be my favorite pictures that I have ever taken. They look pretty generic. But, take a look in the aisle and see if you notice anything. Click for a larger image.
I think that this is how Batting Stance Guy got started. Fortunately, this kid will grow out of it.
A place to follow the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, the Midwest League, Minor League baseball, Major League Baseball, and everything in between in that order.

Press Box Photos (South Bend)
This is the view from the press box at Coveleski Stadium in 2008.

There are some pictures on this blog from way back that have a better shot, but you can tell from here that the posts that held up the net are gone and so is the net that sloped back to keep foul balls from going into the seats behind home plate.
I am looking for those old pictures, but that may need to wait until I get back to Appleton and am able to go through some of those old shots from about three computers ago.

You make the call
Running a little late this morning and I have to check out in a few minutes. But, I did want to put up this post.
Khris Davis homered in the first inning for the Rattlers last night. Well, it wasn't exactly a home run. Click here for the twitter description of it.
Below are two pictures. The first is a wide shot of the stadium from the press box. The second is a shot to show where the ball when out and there is a distance marker in there to give an idea.

The ball went out above the roof of that concession stand right around..............HERE!!
..............................vvvv!!

So, how far did it fly?

Pictures from day two
For a pictures of the team in action head over to this album at their facebook page. Below are some post-game scenes from the press box at the Maryvale Baseball park after the Brewers game. Click to embiggen.

The view from the top row of the part of the press box where the beat writers had been, um, writing.
The door to the home radio booth. No. He wasn't there.

Views from the Press Box
I like this setup. The only thing that bugs me is when the tour groups are being led through the press box area. The guides make a point that there is a separate radio booth for the home and the radio announcers and state (falsely) that most of the other teams in the league do not have that feature. Bugs me to no end.

Good Morning from Midland
This pressbox is bigger than the apartment I had before I moved into the trailer. The gates just opened and they haven't played that loon noise over the PA yet. They did play a generic sounding team theme song. At least that's what I think it was. The only lyrics I clearly heard were Mid-Michigan Pride sung out by a faux Bob Seger.
None of the fun and pathos of the Lugnuts theme song of:
Go, Nuts. Go, Nuts. Go, Nuts, go.....GO NUTS!
But, I kid teams with theme songs.

Sunrise over Coveleski
I know what you are thinking. At what point does Mehring launch his usual passive-aggressive rant about it being early?
Well, you are in for a surprise. It's not going to happen. It may be 8:45am EDT, but if I had actually worked for a living, I'd be on my way to an office or a construction site or just getting to bed after the night shift.
It's a great day. There's baseball and I get to watch it for a living. Some days it is good to have the job you've wanted since you were seven years old.
Today is one of those days.
Here's the shot from the back of the radio booth. There was one that showed more of the field, but the flash kept showing up in window.
One thing to note, and I mentioned it on the broadcast last night. That window on the right had been broken since 2000. It has been propped open with books, boards, and even a roll of duct tape once. It was finally fixed this off-season.
